Let's have some Labor leadership speculation

It didn't take long this time. The first Newspoll for years shows Labor behind and the very next day we have the first story about backbenchers planning a leadership challenge for Kevin Rudd.
"Labor knives out for Rudd" says the headline over Andrew Probyn's story in The West Australian. Nervous Federal Labor MPs still expect Kevin Rudd to win the next election but now widely expect the Prime Minister to be knifed as leader some time early in his second term."
Journalists just love leadership stories. They are so much easier to make up than ones about what is actually happening.
